Elderflower bubbly experiment 2010

Q. Why does a milking stool have only three legs? A. Because the cow has the udder.

Was busy working here on my laptop and was rudely interrupted by these chaps...I "herd" a moooooing sound outside and looked out of the window...

Mutation

Either it was a prank from the 1st of the month...or a strange (but beautiful) mutation. A lick of red pigment across a single petal of just one of these tulips, in Sissinghurst. I promise it's not a photoshop trick! Amazing isn't it?

New Works: Joanne Haywood

These new works will be shown in Thread Bare, Rochester's Art Gallery and Craft Case from Friday onwards, for the next few months.

They are the first new works I have made using my hand dyed yarns from natural dyes and they span from April-December 2009

Freesia & Rose

I love Freesia's, their scent in particular. I saw a bunch of orange freesia's and yellow roses and had to take them home (I paid for them first of course). They were: orange yellow and pink...a sequence of colours I always enjoy.

Christmas Eve

This Year, just for fun, we celebrated the Swedish Christmas on Christmas Eve. I made some traditional Swedish food (or my version of it!) Janssons Temptation, a breaded ham and red cabbage/lingonberries. I also toasted my good friend Paula with a glass of Glogg and I listened to some CD's she send me earlier in the year for my birthday. My favourite from the selection was Kent, I bought their album Hagnesta Hill http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagnesta_Hill a while back in Stockholm, but you can get their music on amazon too.
I found this recipe for Janssons temptation on a fellow bloggers website: http://annesfood.blogspot.com/2006/02/janssons-temptation.html I used the recipe from my Ikea cook book, which I don't know it its a good or "authentic" version, but it tasted very nice. I have only just found this blog and there are lots of recipes, so well worth a look.

Snowman

The snow has finally melted here...we had a few weeks of the white stuff...enough to make a snowman and nice deep snow angels, brrrrrr! Am going to post a few pics I took over December-January. This snowman was made a few weekends back when it snowed for the whole day.

Shadows on the wall...

More shadows from the wall this morning. It has changed slightly with the trees changing outside, loosing leaves, letting more light in.
