Battle, in East Sussex.
I visited the location for
The Battle of Hastings which was fought between Harold the Saxon king and William the Conqueror in 1066. It's actually about 6 miles away from Hastings.
It was an overcast rainy day when I visited. Standing on Senlac Hill I tried to imagine the Battle, which happened in mid October, so the weather might have been as grim then. The fighting went on all day. Harold and his 5,000 men were outnumbered by William and his 1,500 men. A sad day in English History.
