The BIG Knit 2010

Get your knitting needles out and make some hats for Innocent Smoothies "BIG KNIT".
Every little hat you create can then be fetchingly modelled by an Innocent Smoothie Bottle in a Sainsbury's or Boots near you. For each behatted bottle sold, 25p is donated to Age UK.

"We first got our needles out back in 2003 when we knitted 20,000 hats to raise £10,000 money for Age Concern. Since then The Big Knit has grown every single year - and 2010 will be the year we smash the £1 million mark of total money raised over the campaign’s history as we aim to put 800,000 hats on our bottles."

"This year we’re aiming to raise £200,000 to help Age UK make winter warmer for thousands of older people across the UK.

The bad weather, unsafe pavements and dark nights of winter often lead to increased social isolation and loneliness for older people, and Age UK is fighting to prevent this.

This support provided by this donation will help provide

* physical warmth, in the way of clothing, electric blankets and warm food.

* combat isolation and loneliness by bringing older people together with people in their community through everyday activities, such as knitting."
